Mastodon has grown in popularity since Elon Musk took over Twitter. Shortly after the agreement was finalized, Vivaldi became the first browser to launch its own Mastodon “instance,” Vivaldi Social.

The browser has now announced that it will integrate the platform into the sidebar of its desktop browser, making it easier for users to view posts from the accounts they follow.
The Twitter alternative is similar to Musk’s social network in that it allows users to make short posts. Mastodon, in contrast to Twitter, is a decentralized service based on an open-source protocol.
Users can set up and manage their own servers, or “instances,” to which others can connect, and Vivaldi Social is just one of them. Instances can communicate with one another, and users from different servers can still follow and see each other’s posts.
Users of the browser can now find Vivaldi Social in the sidebar, though they can also add any Mastodon instance they want.
When they select an instance from the panel, it appears and is displayed on the side, resulting in a split-screen view.
