When Instagram launched Reels, a short-form video format, it was clear that it was attempting to court TikTok users.
Now, it has introduced two features that are already widely popular on TikTok, possibly in the hopes of converting those who have been hesitant to use Reels due to their absence. Text-to-speech is one of these tools, which provides a robotic voiceover for videos.

When a user enters text for their videos, they can now have an auto-generated voice read it aloud by accessing the feature located in the lower-left corner of the screen. They must then select one of the two available voice options before posting their video.
While text-to-speech will make Reels more accessible, it’s also popular on TikTok because some people find a robotic voice narrating their activities amusing.
Along with Text-to-Speech, Instagram has now added Voice Effects for Reels. Creators can use this feature to change their voice as they see fit, selecting from a variety of options. They can alter their voice to sound like they inhaled helium or like a giant.
They have the option of sounding like an announcer, a robot, or a vocalist. Instagram has now made both audio tools available for users to try.
