Amazon is expanding its popular superhero universe by diving into the early days of the infamous Vought empire. During the San Diego Comic-Con, Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy in ‘The Boys,’ revealed that Amazon will produce a prequel series titled ‘Vought Rising.’
‘Vought Rising’ will transport viewers back to the 1950s, exploring the origins of the Vought conglomerate that dominates the superhero industry in ‘The Boys’ universe.
The series will showcase the early exploits of key characters like Soldier Boy and Stormfront, the almost-immortal Nazi supe portrayed by Aya Cash.
According to executive producers Eric Kripke and Paul Grellong, the prequel will revolve around a “twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought.”
This intriguing plot promises to delve deep into the dark history of the corporation, offering a reimagined narrative akin to ‘Watchmen’ but with a unique twist.
‘Vought Rising’ is not the only expansion of ‘The Boys’ universe. The Comic-Con panel also announced that the college-themed spinoff ‘Gen V’ will receive another season.
Additionally, two more spinoffs are in development: ‘The Boys: Mexico,’ featuring Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, and ‘The Boys Presents: Diabolical,’ an animated anthology series with contributions from original writers and special guest stars.
