Starting in 2025, the series will be rebranded as Extreme H, marking a significant pivot towards hydrogen-powered racing. This decision underscores the growing importance of sustainable energy solutions in motorsport.

Central to this transition is the unveiling of the Pioneer 25, Extreme H’s flagship hydrogen-powered race car.

Equipped with a 75kW hydrogen fuel cell, the Pioneer 25 symbolizes the innovative spirit and commitment to green technology that Extreme H aims to promote.

This vehicle will be the cornerstone of the new series, testing the limits of hydrogen power in extreme conditions.

The inaugural season of Extreme H is set to commence in April 2025 in Saudi Arabia. The series will then proceed to the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and conclude in the United States.

Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of Extreme E, emphasized that the shift to hydrogen is about more than just e-mobility.

He stated, “By launching Extreme H, we’re not only showcasing the viability of hydrogen as a fuel source but also testing the wider hydrogen ecosystem including recharging and hydrogen transportation — as well as helping to create a market for it.”

This forward-thinking approach aims to demonstrate hydrogen’s potential as a versatile and sustainable energy solution, applicable from remote locations to bustling cities.
