General Motors (GM) has recently issued a stop-sale order for the Chevy Blazer EV, just weeks after its release, following reports of major software problems that rendered the vehicle undrivable.

The decision came after multiple complaints were made about the SUV’s software, including issues with the infotainment system crashing and displaying numerous error messages. Edmunds, an automotive publication, documented 23 different issues during their tests of the Blazer EV.

These issues not only affected the display but also left some testers stranded when the vehicle broke down while charging. Inside EVs writer Kevin Williams also encountered similar problems during his test drive.

In response to these reports, Chevrolet released a statement acknowledging the software quality issues experienced by a limited number of Blazer EV owners.

To ensure a positive customer experience, GM has temporarily paused sales of the Blazer EV. Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet, confirmed that all new deliveries are currently on hold.

The Chevy Blazer EV is powered by GM’s Ultium battery system, which is also used in other vehicles such as the GMC Hummer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq. Unfortunately, these vehicles have also faced numerous complaints, as reported by Inside EVs.

However, GM clarified that the software issues with the Blazer EV are not related to safety concerns or the Ultium battery system.
