IK Multimedia has released the iRig Stream Mic Pro, which is intended to be more versatile than standard multimedia microphones from Blue and others.

It features a multi-pattern condenser microphone as well as a 24-bit, 96 kHz audio interface for iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. This enables creators to combine their voice with music from a phone or tablet, as well as easily connect to a media player, keyboard, or other device.

Due to dual mic capsules that allow you to choose from cardioid, figure 8, omnidirectional, or stereo pickup patterns, the company promises “crisp, clear, and detailed” sound. The 24-bit, 96kHz converters produce high-quality output, which can be verified via a headphone output with direct monitoring.

The stereo 3.5mm audio input allows you to connect devices such as a turntable, soundboard, or keyboard directly to the audio interface. The monitoring mix control allows you to blend the director’s or recorded audio through the headphone output.

It also includes Loopback+, which allows you to not only add music from a smartphone or other device, but also route the mic signal to a separate app for reverb, EQ, or noise reduction.

The signal can then be sent to an app like TikTok, allowing for easier output “on apps that don’t normally allow audio processing or adding background music,” according to a press release from IK Multimedia.

A single control knob is used to select and operate settings, and LED level indicators are used to monitor levels. It supports stereo and multichannel operation and comes with cables for iPhones, iPads, Android devices, and Macs/PCs. It is MiFi certified and powered by its host.

The price reflects all of the features. The iRig Stream Mic Pro costs $170, whereas Blue’s Yeti is $100 and there are several good streaming mics under $100. However, this could be less expensive than purchasing a microphone and an interface separately.

It comes with a few free apps, including iRig Recorder 3 LE for mobile devices, MixBox CS (iPad), and MixBox SE (Mac/PC). It costs $170 and is now available from IK Multimedia’s online store and select retailers.
