Fisker has begun production of its ambitious electric Ocean SUV in Austria after years of planning.

The company promised to begin production by the end of 2022, and it has done so with about six weeks to spare.

If you didn’t pre-order the EV quickly, you might be in for a long wait before you can get your hands on the Ocean.

Fisker will gradually increase production. It intends to construct over 300 units in the firstquarter of 2023, increasing to over 8,000 the following quarter.

The goal for Q3 is to produce more than 15,000 units. Fisker anticipates producing approximately 42,400 units in 2023.

Two Ocean trims have sold out in the United States for 2023, and the company has received over 63,000 reservations in total.

The limited-edition Ocean One trim, based on the high-end Ocean Extreme, demanded a $5,000 deposit and sold out in less than 30 days earlier this year. Fisker will produce 5,000 Ocean Ones before moving on to other models.

The entry-level Ocean Sport costs $37,499, while the mid-tier Ocean Ultra costs $49,999. The Sport has a single 275 horsepower engine that can propel the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds. The Ultra has 540 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds.

The Ocean, according to Fisker, is the world’s “most sustainable vehicle,” and it is built in a carbon-neutral factory.

The vehicle also contains more than 50 kg (110 pounds) of recycled, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly materials.
