Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has scented a new opportunity to capitalize on quirky products, launching a perfume called “Burnt Hair” that he claims sold 10,000 bottles in just a few hours, earning him a million dollars.
“With a name like mine, it was inevitable that I’d end up in the fragrance business – why did I fight it for so long!?” Musk was asked on Twitter if he now refers to himself as a perfume salesman.

The website describes his latest offering as “the essence of repugnant desire,” and it will ship in the first quarter of 2023, fulfilling a product Musk first mentioned in September.
Previous ideas include Tesla’s own-brand tequila, which will be released in 2020, and a pair of “short shorts” to represent Musk’s victory over investors who bet against the electric vehicle maker, which is now the world’s most valuable car company.
In early 2018, his Boring Company, a tunneling firm last valued at $5.7 billion, sold flamethrowers for $500 each, raising $10 million. He also sold 50,000 hats for the Boring Company.
Musk’s ambitions have ranged from colonizing Mars to creating a new sustainable energy economy, and in the past, he has stated that he hopes to colonize Mars.
Last week, the billionaire proposed proceeding with his original $44 billion bid to take Twitter Inc private, requesting an end to a lawsuit filed by the social media company that could have forced him to pay up whether he wanted to or not.

If the deal goes through, Musk will be in charge of one of the most influential media platforms, putting an end to months of litigation that has harmed Twitter’s brand and fueled Musk’s reputation for erratic behavior.
The Boring Company did not respond to a question about how long the perfume would be available.
