NASA and Hideo Kojima have collaborated on a project, and it’s not just the collaboration that’s unusual. After all, the mascot of Kojima Productions is a character named Ludens, who wears an extravehicular activity spacesuit and is meant to be an astronaut exploring digital space.
No, it’s the fact that they worked together on a watch. It’s not even a smartwatch; it’s an actual wristwatch called Space Ludens, which is based on the mascot of the gaming developer.

Anicorn, a creative studio and watchmaker that has previously collaborated with NASA on other watches and merch, designed and will sell the watch. It’s based on the visual style of Ludens’ spacesuit, with gray/silver coloring and gold screws and accents, as IGN points out.
While a watch is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Kojima collaborated with NASA, it does look pretty cool and could appeal to fans of either party. On September 27th, a limited number of Space Ludens watches will be made available.
Only 600 pieces will be available for purchase, with 100 of them including a skull mask based on the one featured prominently in the Kojima Productions logo. Anicorn has yet to reveal the price, but its previous NASA watches are not cheap, costing well over $1,000.
