Lucid has a goal: to compete with German luxury brands. Those automakers each have their own performance sub-brands, and Lucid has joined them. Lucid debuted its Sapphire performance brand during the annual Monterey Car Week festivities.

The Air was the first to receive the high-powered treatment, as expected. The Lucid Air Sapphire has 1,200 horsepower and can accelerate from zero to sixty in less than two seconds.
It’s more than just putting another motor in the back to create a tri-motor system. In addition, the suspension has been improved, aerodynamic components have been added, and a new sport mode called Sapphire has been introduced.
It’s not for everyone, with a starting price of $249,000, but if you’re interested, deliveries will begin in 2023.
