Lime, a mobility startup, has started adding a new swappable battery to its fleet of electric bikes and scooters. The component, according to the company, is a significant improvement over the one it is currently using.

The nearly 1 kWh battery is twice as large as Lime’s previous.46 kWh design. The battery is also compatible with Lime’s existing Gen4 and Citra e-bikes and scooters, allowing the company to enhance the capabilities of those vehicles without replacing them.

Lime plans to launch the battery in a few cities this summer, including Paris and Long Beach, before expanding its reach. A higher capacity power source has a few advantages.
