Google’s recent Pixel software updates haven’t always arrived without a hitch. For example, at the end of last year, the company was forced to halt the release of an OTA due to reports that the software caused the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro to drop calls.
More recently, the March update introduced an issue that caused the company’s latest phones to produce much weaker notifications when a notification was received.

Many Pixel 6 and 6 Pro owners complained after Google released the update, claiming that no matter what setting they had for their phone’s haptic feedback, they would miss calls and emails because they couldn’t feel their device vibrating.

Google began rolling out the May Pixel software update on Monday. It includes a solution to the vibration problem. “Improvements for haptic feedback under certain conditions and use cases,” writes the company on its community website.
The update also fixes two other issues that have plagued recent Pixel devices. The first involves a bug that caused those phones’ displays to wake up without any input.

The second fixes a bug that could cause the Pixel launcher to crash after restarting your device. The update also includes Google’s most recent Android security patch.
Google says it will begin rolling out the May 2022 update to all eligible Pixel devices in the coming weeks. If you’re feeling daring, you can manually sideload the software onto your phone and install it. Just keep in mind that flashing a device always carries some level of risk.
