The Fenix line is the one to choose if you want a Garmin that screams “adventure.” Over the last decade, the premium range of multi-sport GPS watches has come a long way, and the new 7-series adds a few new tricks.

The Fenix 7 line, in particular, will now include touchscreens. It may appear to be an odd omission so far, but the great outdoors often means gloves, sweat, motion, and the elements — all of which can wreak havoc on a touchscreen. As a result, it’ll be interesting to see how responsive it is in active mode.
A new multi-LED flashlight is also included. This is useful for camping trips or early morning/late night runs. It is not only a general-purpose light, but it can also alternate between red and white as you run, matching your personal cadence, alerting traffic or cyclists to your presence (and direction).
The Fenix is available in three models/sizes, as usual: the 7S/7 and premium 7X, which measure 42, 47, and 51 mm across, respectively. All have solar-charging options, and Garmin claims that the new casing has a larger screen surface area, which could double solar gains over the Fenix 6 line.
This means that the total time between charges (without GPS) could be up to five weeks, which is quite impressive for a smartwatch of this size.
Aside from the hardware changes, the Fenix now has some new advanced training modes. Real-Time Stamina, Visual Race Predictor, Recovery Time Advison, and Daily Workout Suggestions are among them.

These features supplement the Fenix’s already extensive offering of topo-maps, golf courses, and surf/snow features. All models and variations in the Fenix 7 line are now available, with prices starting at $700.
