In an update on its official website, the company hinted that five Apple Stores in Georgia, five in North Carolina, and about a dozen in Texas will no longer be open to the public after they complete their regular hours on Friday evening.

The shutdown will affect stores in major cities like Houston and Atlanta. In the event that you’ve been booked for an appointment to repair your device or pick up an online order at one of those stores, your appointment can still hold until January 18th.

A spokesperson for Apple told Bloomberg, “Due to current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas. We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation, and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible.”
