Tesla’s Refreshed Model S Concept May Have Been Seen On The Road

Not seeing camouflage and other major signs aiming at masking the design clearly indicates that it may not take too long before it comes and that is if this is indicative of a new design.

Tesla’s Model S concept hasn’t changed that much since 2016, although it appears poised for an update that should have come long before now. According to Electrek, The Kilowatts have seen what could be described as a Model S design refresh roaming around Palo Alto.

Looking at it first, you could see a more aggressively styled car with the body looking bigger and a bolder fender and wider hips. You could also see something that looks like it had revised wheels, lights, and an updated rear diffuser.

Ravzgadget didn’t get any clue if the company made internal changes. Tesla is looking to deliver its more powerful, longer-ranged Model S Plaid at the later part of 2021, and the car we added in this story is not really a prototype of the one we’ve described, it could be a tweak that arrives independently under revisions.

Tesla has been known for decoupling design and technological changes, for instance, the company’s self-driving hardware arrived about six months after the April 2016 refresh.

Not seeing camouflage and other major signs aiming at masking the design clearly indicates that it may not take too long before it comes and that is if this is indicative of a new design.

This could be a very necessary change even if there aren’t too many functional changes attached. Tesla has a number of challenges ahead if it’s going to top its production of 500,000 cars in 2020, and that includes rejuvenating sales of higher-end EVs like the Model S.

Even though the Model S hasn’t really sold in large numbers, it’s still Tesla’s current “halo” car for now until the new Roadster arrives and serves as a counter to higher-end offerings from German automakers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. However, any boost to Model S sales could improve Tesla’s overall business.
