Samsung is taking technology to the next level as it has launched a 110-inch MicroLED TV, and it’s currently up for pre-sale in Korea. The leading tech company has been advertising massive displays that use MicroLED technology for like two years now.

Samsung showed a 146-inch TV tagged The Wall at CES 2018, and it showed off a 75-inch model and a 219-inch display at the same event in 2019. Those displays are modular and require installation, but the latest model it launched now is prefabricated and can be installed like any other TV.

Though Samsung’s MicroLED TV tech is scalable and can create displays of different sizes, the company said in its announcement that it wasn’t initially possible to run mass production on a MicroLED screen as small as 110-inch for a simple home installation.

The company hinted that it had to develop a new surface mount technology and a new manufacturing process derived from its semiconductor business to make the release possible. However, the move it adopted will make it possible for Samsung to produce even smaller MicroLED displays for customers.

Samsung made it that the 110-inch model can display 4K HDR content and uses micrometer-sized LED lights that can last for a decade. Not just that, it also has a MultiView feature that can display up to four different sources of content all at once on split screens that can be up to 55 inches in size… giving a very wide view.

The 110-inch Samsung model has 5.1 surround sound capability and a feature that tracks objects moving on the screen such as airplanes flying by so it can project sounds to follow them along. The only negative news about the model is that it’s only up for pre-sale in Korea at the moment, but the tech giant said it’ll be available globally in the first quarter of 2021.
