After a bit of a false start, Ubisoft has officially announced the release of its highly anticipated remaster of the cult classic game, Beyond Good and Evil. The new trailer for the remake first appeared in a tweet from the game studio, which was later deleted.
However, the latest announcement seems to be sticking around, confirming that we will indeed be getting the Beyond Good and Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition on June 25.
The remaster will be available on a wide range of platforms. Gamers can expect to see it on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Additionally, Limited Run Games will be offering physical copies of the remaster starting July 12. These physical editions will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
The two-minute long trailer showcases the newly updated art assets and promises significant visual enhancements. The remaster will run at up to 4K and 60 fps, providing a much more immersive gaming experience.
It also features a re-orchestrated soundtrack, which is sure to please fans of the original game. Furthermore, Ubisoft promises “exclusive new content,” although specific details about this new content remain unclear at this time.
The journey to this remaster has been a long one, marked by several ups and downs. An early listing for the remaster appeared on the Xbox store, and an incomplete version was briefly available on Ubisoft Plus in 2023 due to a technical glitch.
This back-and-forth has been a source of frustration for fans eagerly awaiting the game’s return.
Additionally, the mention of Beyond Good and Evil often raises questions about its long-awaited sequel, which has been teased for over a decade. Unfortunately, the latest update provides no new information regarding that project.
