It’s Star Wars Day! Lucasfilm and Disney+ are commemorating May 4th by releasing a new trailer for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
In comparison to the first teaser, there isn’t much new footage in this trailer. However, there is a brief scene in which Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) and Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton) discuss training young Luke Skywalker to become a Jedi.

There’s also a glimpse of Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) being reassembled, which is much more than the previous trailer’s breathing cameo.
This clip also reinforces one of the show’s main plot threads. The Empire is desperately trying to track down an evading Obi-Wan in order to annihilate the Jedi once and for all.
I’m curious how that will turn out. There’s also a brief glimpse of Kumail Nanjiani’s character, who is dressed in Jedi robes, as well as several shots of the villains.
Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith and fills in some of the narrative gaps between the prequels and the original trilogy.

While The Mandalorian, the first live-action Star Wars series, was a success, Obi-Wan Kenobi should be an easier sell for Disney+ due to the presence of familiar characters. As a result, it doesn’t need to reveal too much before the series premieres with two episodes on May 27th.
